ELLIOTT STEINBERG
Jazz vocalist. Scat singer. Trumpet player.
Based in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, Elliott is a jazz singer who gets inspiration from his favourites, including Tony Bennett and Mel Torme. He loves the standards, but surprises audiences with non-traditional tunes by the likes of Sting, Stevie Wonder, Gordon Lightfoot kd lang, and Billy Joel. He's played classical and jazz trumpet for many years, studying early on with Douglas Payson Sturdevant of the National Arts Centre Orchestra in Ottawa. Years of playing in big bands reignited Elliott's desire to return to his first instrument: voice. He loves a good lyric and unexpected chord changes, and revels in scat singing, inspired by Mel Torme and Nancy King.
